  • POP-NC FAQ

  • Do I have to make an appointment? Yes. All patients are seen by appointment only.

  • How do I make an appointment?  You can either email or call us. When you contact us, provide the information requested on the presurgery page to expedite your request.

  • What is your cancellation policy? We require at least 72 hours notice but request as much notice as possible. Last minute cancellations and patients who fail to show up for scheduled surgery appointments will not be offered new appointments but may come to a future date on standby to fill any appointment availabilities that day.

  • Is there a minimum age or weight requirement for my pet to have surgery? Yes. We require pets be at least 2 lbs and 8 weeks old. We recommend pets be neutered between 3-4 months of age. This will allow them to receive a Rabies vaccination during their visit.

  • Are there any requirements for using your services? We do not have any financial qualifications; our rates are available to everyone. We only offer wellness services to animals that are already spayed/neutered or are too young for surgery.

  • Do I have to live in the county you visit? No. We accept pets from everywhere! If you are more than 20 minutes from all of our locations, we may refer you to another clinic (if available) that will be more convenient for you.

  • Can I just get vaccines or a microchip? No. All patients must have a wellness exam or surgical visit to receive any additional service we offer.

  • If my pet is only coming for a wellness visit, does it have to stay all day? Yes. Pets receiving vaccinations need to be monitored for potential adverse reactions. We can not delay or interrupt surgeries to offer mid day check out.

  • Can I bring my pet back to you for vaccine boosters? Yes. Check your medical record for the date vaccines are due and contact us right away to ensure we have an appointment available for that date.

  • Can I purchase products without bringing my pet in? Yes, you may stop by at 9am to purchase Frontline and other products. Please call or email to inquire about our next visit to your preferred location and availability of the items you are interested in.

  • If my pet is an adult, is it too late to be neutered? Absolutely not! Senior adults may need to have a Geriatric Health Profile including complete blood count, serum biochemistry, and urinalysis prior to scheduling an appointment.

  • Do you accept feral/stray cats? Yes. We offer services to feral/stray cats and accept feral vouchers from Operation Catnip, Independent Animal Rescue and Paw Prints Animal Rescue. If you are using a voucher, your cat's ear will be tipped, no exceptions.

  • Can I bring a feral/stray in a cat carrier? No. All unowned/untamed cats must be brought in a humane trap. The trap allows us to safely sedate the cat and minimize it's stress. Feral cats brought in a cat carrier will not be admitted for surgery.

  • Do you have Rabies clinics? No. Some counties host Rabies clinics. Contact your county animal control or shelter to inquire about Rabies clinics in your area.

  • My pet is sick or injured, can you help me? Unfortunately, we do not offer care for sick or injured animals. We strongly encourage you to establish a relationship with a full service veterinarian and contact them immediately with any concerns.

  • What time is check in? All patients with appointments check in at 8:30am. Standby patients check in at 9:00am.

  • What if I am late? If you arrive and check in is still in progress, you will be able to sign in for check in. At 9:00am, your appointment may be given away to a standby patient. When check in ends, no additional patients will be accepted that day and you will need to call or email the office to reschedule. The surgery staff can not reschedule your appointment.

  • How long does check in take the morning of surgery? Check in varies depending on the number of surgeries scheduled that day but usually takes about 30 minutes.

  • What do I do when I get there in the morning? If you have a dog, leave your dog in your car. At 8:30am we will set up a table. Please sign in and complete a check in form. If you have a cat, please label the carrier with your cat's name and your last name. Please have cash ready and wait for a Veterinary Assistant to call your name from the sign in sheet.

  • Do you accept checks or credit cards? No. To maintain our low rates, we only accept cash. It is due in the morning when you check in.

  • What time is pick up? The specific time changes each day. You will be advised of your pick up time when you check in the morning of surgery and you must be back at that time to take your pet home. We will not call you to remind you of your pick up time. If you are late for pick up, you may be charged an additional fee.
